My current desktop PC (2025-)
I decided to plan building my new desktop build in early 2025 and soon enough I narrowed my options down to two configurations. I name my computers after species, so if I were to go with an Intel Arrow Lake CPU, I'd name it Dendrobates after the genus of poisonarrow frogs. But in the end, I decided to go the other route and built my first Ryzen config, naming it Testudo after the Mediterranean tortoises. The idea came to me because the Ryzen 7000 series was codenamed Raphael. Yes, I know, the TMNT aren't tortoises but Testudo sounds arguably cooler than Trachemys. Coincidentally, using the QUBE 500 case in a horizontal configuration makes the machine look low-profile but large and robust, so kind of like a tortoise! I also decided to re-use the name Dendrobates for the secondary, 2TB SSD, while the 1TB boot SSD is called Camellia after the tea plant.
